Introduction
The Gemmologists Association of Sri Lanka (GASL), with the sponsorships of the National Gem and Jewellery Authority (NGJA) and Gem & Jewellery Research and Training Institue (GJRTI) has organized a workshop on Advanced Analytical Instruments for Gemmology. This workshop is designed to provide participants with the latest knowledge and practical experience in using advanced instruments to identify and authenticate gemstones.
The objectives of the workshop are as follows:
•To educate participants on the latest advanced instruments used in gemmology
•To provide participants with hands-on experience in using advanced instruments to identify and authenticate gemstones
•To promote the professional development of gemmologists in Sri Lanka
Target Audience
The workshop is open to all qualified gemologists and enthusiasts who wish to learn about advanced gemmological instruments. It is also open to students who are studying gemmology.
Workshop Details
The workshop will be divided into two sessions – a theory session and a practical session. The theory session will cover the following topics:
• FTIR Spectroscopy
• Raman and PL Spectroscopy
• EDXRF Spectroscopy
• UV-Vis-Near IR Spectroscopy
The practical session will be conducted for each of the above mentioned Advanced Analytical Instruments.
Each session will be conducted by experienced gemmologists and experts in the field of Advanced Analytical Instruments. Participants will be given hands-on experience in using these advanced instruments to identify and authenticate gemstones.
Venue
The workshop will be held at the GJRTI. (80/B Avissawella Road, Welivita)
Date and Time
The workshop will be held on Saturday & Sunday (As two batches), 27th & 28th May 2023, from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm.
Registration
Registration for the workshop is open from 13th May 2023 to 22nd May 2023. The registration fee is LKR 15,000/= per participant. This fee covers workshop materials, lunch, and refreshments.
At the end of the program, all participants will be awarded a certificate recognized by GASL.
