  Gemmologists Association of Sri Lanka (GASL) ...
Gemmologists Association of Sri Lanka (GASL) is the professional body of Gemmologists in Sri Lanka. It was established in 1970 and since then it works with broad spectrum of activities related to science of gemmology.
Structure of Diploma in Gemmology examination
There are two parts in the examination.
a) Theory examination- two papers
b) Practical examination

To award Diploma candidate should pass both parts of examination.
According to the level of competency shown by the candidates at the examination, following grades will be assigned,

Distinction (average over 75% in both papers)
Credit (average in 60% to 75% in both papers)
Pass (average in 40% to 60% in both papers)
Failure (average below 40% in both papers)

The question papers and answer scripts will be standardized by internationally recognized local and foreign examiners.
Entrance qualifications

Candidates should have following qualifications to register for the examination
1. Certificate in Gemmology by University of Moratuwa or certificate from affiliated institutes of the GASL.

2. Any other qualifications in gemmology awarded by any other Institute, acceptable to the exco of the GASL

Registration fee (valid for two years only)
For Sri Lankans Rs 1, 000/=
For non residents of Sri Lanka US$ 150

Examination fee
For Both Theory and Practicals
For Sri Lankans Rs 15000/=
For non residents of Sri Lanka US$ 300
General conditions for candidates of  examination
1).The candidate should be over 18 years at the commencing date of examination. No upper age limit is applicable.

2).Examination is conducted in English medium.

3). The GASL will not conduct any classes in this regard. The registered students can attend the revision seminars conduct by the GASL.

4).There is no limitation for the number of attempts in the examination, but have to pay examination fee for each attempt.

5). Fees once paid is non refundable.

6). The executive committee of the Gemmologist Association of Sri Lanka will reserve the sole right to decide the place & date of examinations, release of results and other matters related to above said examination. Candidates cannot question these.

7).Please return the duly completed application form along with,
a).Certified copies of academic certificates
b).Two stamp size colour photographs
c).should be written to Gemmologists Association of Sri Lanka and  crossed “A/C payee only or deposit at A/C 1101011501 ”.The Commercel bank  Colombo 03,(swift code CCEYLKLX)
d).Cash payment copy of the receipt of payment from GASL.
